Before his embrace, Steve was the night operations manager at Million Air private airport and charter service which was owned by his father, Ron Gould. After his embrace in 1998, Stephen worked his way into the film industry. He traveled to Nevada and California where he spent some time with Julian Hemminway and John Hall. There he met a vampire with the ability to alter his appearance. Stephen, who already strongly resembled Quenton Tarrantino, had his appearance altered to make the resemblance even stronger. Then, in April 1998, Stephen ghoulized Tarrantino, making him a mortal double.

Stephen's father died in March 1998, and Stephen became the owner of Million Air. Furthermore, Stephen and Quenton worked together on movie directing and other business endeavors. Stephen operated by night, while Quenton operated by day.

However, Stephen has maintained his relationships with the kindred and kine of New Orleans. Stephen occasionally receives calls from Andre Rozhkov and a few other kindred for confidential and anonymous flight plans and charters. Stephen contacts the night manager at Million Air New Orleans and gives the orders accordingly. For about six months out of each year, Stephen himself stays in New Orleans and takes care of Million Air business.

Stephen's mentors, Lester and Yvonne, have been educating Stephen in the vampire ways while his sire, Algernon, takes care of Archon business around the world. There is a rumor that Stephen accelerated his education and training by diablerizing several vampires in California.

Million Air is a wealthy company with many small private airports around the world. There is a preferred-member list which apparently consists of only the most wealthy travelers. The airport sees very little traffic, about 90% of which is privately owned flights with private flight plans.
