The worst is yet to come, that we know for a fact. The Ancients stir, and it seems for every one that falls, two others awaken. It is amazing to me to see each creature play his part in bringing on this terrible end. The crusades of this world will surely awaken the rest of the Antediluvians before long. With the Clanless here, we can be certain of that. Haqim's Get will hasten it all even more when they face the Tremere. Troile provides enough strength to the Clanless to be sure there will be plenty of bloodshed. We can call ourselves fortunate that Mekhet and Lucian have been destroyed by their Get. Malkav toys with the vampires, helping them now only so they can face a more terrible fate later; I wonder if his dabblings hasten Gehenna too.
We Watchers have observed the young princes of New Orleans come and go, and the young broods get sucked in to a world from which there is no escape, forced to mature before their time, brandishing weapons and strategizing and fighting their way to survival, all the while with their little voices telling them how wrong this all is but their minds can't quite grasp a way out. The Beast burns in them, struggling harder than ever to get out. The Red Fear drives them to madness or suicide. Their luck and fighting skills carry them on another day, but this cannot last.
The Camarilla... that young group of foolish vampires. The elders struggle to keep the younger Cainites thinking that the Antediluvians are not real, while secretly they meet to plan ways to fight their ancient ancestors. I must commend them on their drive and passion, but there are just not enough of them willing to commit to the cause to do any good.
The Tal'Mahe'Ra brilliantly manipulates the Sabbat to be sure they have no hope in opposing the Ancients when the time comes. Convincing the Camarilla that Ninmug was awake was not a bad idea either; now they can sit back while the Camarilla falls apart as young Kindred defy their elders to "go join the Ancients."
My only hope lies in the fact that Ravnos was defeated by the combined efforts of the Technomages and Kuie-jin. The nukes and the satellites were brilliant. Perhaps similar groups from behind the scenes will surprise me as well.
Well, here I go, into the Spilled Milk. Perhaps one more try talking with that Bartender and I'll have an idea who she really is. I have my suspicions. If I'm right, I could be brain dead before the night is over. If I'm wrong... this may be the last sunset I ever wake up to.
