Algernon Bayard was an archon from South Africa. He came to the United States in 1998 to investigate the death of Justicar Octavius and Prince Mancini.

No one has ever been sure of his Clan; though he has been closely tied to the Malkavians and Gangrel. For some time he worked very closely with Cyril (former Malkavian Inner Circle representative) and Octiavius (former Malkavian Justicar). In recent years, he spent time serving as Justicar Xaviar's archon.

In 2017, when Xaviar and most of the rest of Clan Gangrel left the Camarilla, so did Algernon.

He is believed to be a master of disguise but no one knows for sure what abilities he truly possesses. For some time, Cyril of th Inner Circle posed as Algernon to personally direct the investigation into the death of Octavius and other events in New Orleans. So, many of Algernon's famous powers of Auspex and Obfuscate may have actually belonged to Cyril.

In any case, none can be sure of his true appearance or powers.
