Chracter Creation

Character Creation per book rules:

Attributes: 7 / 5 / 3.
Abilities: 13 / 9 / 5.
Virtues: 7 points.
Backgrounds: 5 points. Must be discussed in detail with Storyteller for approval. See restrictions later in this document.
Merits & Flaws: 7 points. Must be discussed in detail with Storyteller for approval. See restrictions later in this document.

No Samedi. No Assamites. No Malkavians. No Tzimisce. No Lasombra. No Giovanni. No Cappadocians. Not to say that these clans don't exist - they DO exist, you just can't play them as PC's.

You can make up new merits or flaws too but it must be interesting and easy to pull off in the game without complicating things for me. Basically, you have to convince me to approve it.

New Merit: Supernatural Contact, 3 pt. Merit... could be an Assamite, a Mage, or a Lupine, or maybe somebody else. Storyteller makes up the NPC, you specify species - but must approve with Storyteller.

This game is designed with the possibility of rotating Storytellers - for example, Scott & I could could rotate every few months so we would both get a chance to play. This is just an option.

Oh, I need someone to play a Toreador character. And, it would be helpful to have a Brujah in the group. We already have a Nosferatu in the group (Tamara).

Clans Allowed Requirements/Restrictions
Brujah Resources < 5. No other restrictions.
Gangrel Resources < 5. Status < 4. And remember, the Gangrel are officially NO LONGER members of the Camarilla. However, many have "settled" in the Northwestern U.S.
Nosferatu Resources < 5. PC cannot be Nosferatu primogen; Status < 4.
Toreador Resources < 5. PC cannot be Toreador primogen; Status < 4.
Tremere Tremere PC's must be apprentices with Status < 3 and Mentor > 1.
Ventrue PC cannot be Ventrue primogen; Status < 5; Resources can be up to 5 dots with detailed story behind it.
Setite Resources < 5. Status < 4. Must have at least 1 dot in Mentor but no more than 3.
Salubri Status < 4. Must be good-aligned, such as on road to Golconda. No Valeran warriors.
Caitiff Resources < 5. Status < 2. Must have at least 1 dot in Mentor but no more than 3.
Daughter Actually, you will probably be a Toreador with Daughter's disciplines.

Other Restrictions:

Backgrounds:

Status: Max 4 dots. If Status = 0, then must have Mentor > 0. If Status = 4, then must have Generation > 1.

Retainers: Cannot be greater than (1 – Status)

Resources: If Resources > 3, then must have detailed story behind wealth. We will be keeping track of money in this game in a very detailed way.

Mentor: Max 3 unless approved by Storyteller and discussed in great detail.

Influence: Max 4.

Herd: Max 3.

Generation: Cannot exceed Status + 1. So, the have 5 dots in Gen you must have at least 4 dots in Status. However, note that it is okay to have 2 dots in Gen and still have 4 dots in Status.

Fame: Max 4. Must specify in detail how he/she is famous.

Allies/Contact: Max 3. Must specify details of who they are. Can get Storyteller input.

Merits/Flaws/Abilities:

Some merits and flaws and abilities will be restricted from the game. I will give details later, but I can say Blasé, Iron Will, Hatred, Phobia, Light Sleeper, Guardian Angel, Destiny, Child, Dark Fate, Haunted, Clan Impersonation, and Enemy are forbidden. Light Sleeper may be allowed if you play a character with at least 6 dots in Humanity AND no more than 1 dot in Generation. Also, the merits and flaws found in books such as Players Guide to the Sabbat, and other "secondary" books are excluded; you can’t use them. Only the merits and flaws in the Players Guide or Vampire: The Masquerade revised rule book may be used.

I strongly encourage the Eat Food Merit, or a few dots in the Masquerade skill.

Disciplines:

You cannot have disciplines outside of your Clan Disciplines. With experience points you can learn new disciplines, but with initial character creation and freebie points, you can only have your Clan Disciplines.

Concept and Character Creation:

You must discuss your concept and background in detail with me before creating your character.

I am working on the Who’s Who, the Prince & Primogen, but I am not carving anything in stone or doing any major planning until you all make your characters. I will be designing the details of the campaign and creating most of the NPC’s after hearing your character concepts and backgrounds. Oh, if you make up a Setite or Salubri or Caitiff, be aware that they will be unique characters (perhaps the only one of their kind in the city) and will not have a primogen - or will they?

Lastly: Just so you know, Tamara’s character will be a Nosferatu.

Final Note / Suggestion on Character Concepts: I may allow 'thin-blooded' characters of 14th and 15th Generation, including a Dhampir, but with some restrictions. Also, I would like to have someone play a Toreador PC. Also, remember this chronicle will include dealing with mortals so I strongly encourage the Eat Food Merit, or a few dots in the Masquerade skill. I encourage anything that has never been used before except those things that I have forbidden or that are found in more obscure texts.

As of June 30, we now have a Nosferatu PC and possibly a Gangrel PC. Rumors have floated around about a Tremere PC too.
