In the last 300 years, two global wars took place. The first was a war between the people of Selais and an army of demons from the ancient world. The magic of elves, might of dwarves, and great numbers of valiant men were not enough to stop the onslaught of the fiends. The people of Selais would have been defeated, were it not for aid they received from the Ancients. First, the Planetars, mythical beings from the sun and sky, joined the war against the demons. Then, dragonkind joined the war on the side of Selais, and with these powerful forces, the world was victorious.
The victory was short-lived, however, for after the Planetars left the world once again, another terrible, however brief, war took Selais by surprise. The dragons, who had helped the people defeat the demons, took advantage of the weakened condition of the humans, elves and dwarves, and came forth in terrible numbers, claiming Selais was their world now. There were several battles here and there, but in a few short months, the dragons took control of all Selais and announced a world emperor, the Sirion, the Hellfire Wyrm.
For five decades the dragons have world Selais, and the people of the world have struggled to survive and rebuild their cities under draconic rule and steep taxes. But in more recent years, strange things have been happening. The return of the demons, the schemes of the god Petharak and his minions, and the uprising of armies both good and evil are leading up to another change that may shake the world apart forever. But there are those among the people who hold onto a glimmer of hope that they will banish the demons, reclaim their world from dragonkind, and be victorious against the darkness.
